Higgs Boson… Huh?

Chances are that you’ve at least heard at least some mention of the Higgs Boson in the past couple of days.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but it took me a little while to understand exactly what this was.  Asking friends about it didn’t provide much help as each explanation seemed more confusing than the last. I’m sure others have had similar experiences so I’ve found what I think is the most basic explanation of the Higgs Boson and the Higgs field.

Warning:  This video contains corny jokes, and strange analogies, but I think it is a good starting point for this momentous discovery.
